Bill Award

The Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District is pleased to share that Superintendent of Schools Bill Runey has received the 2026 District Administration Leaders of Distinction Award, a national honor presented by District Administration magazine, a premier publication serving superintendents and district leaders across the country. The award recognizes administrators who exhibit exceptional leadership, innovation, and district-wide impact in public education.

“This is a humbling honor,” Superintendent Runey shared. “While my name is associated with this recognition, it truly reflects the collective work of our District Leadership Team, our dedicated staff, the support of our School Committee, and the strength of our #WeAreDR community. Together, guided by our DRiving Toward 2030 vision, we’ve focused on empowering our stakeholders, igniting student learning, and shaping a strong, sustainable future for Dighton-Rehoboth. This recognition belongs to all of us.”

The District Administration Awards of Distinction recognize pioneering leaders who have demonstrated exceptional vision, executed innovative strategies, and achieved remarkable results. Criteria include:

  • visionary leadership: Identifying leaders who have demonstrated a clear and inspiring vision for their district, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

  • collaborative engagement: Considering leaders who have successfully engaged stakeholders, such as teachers, staff, parents, and the community, in the decision-making process and built strong relationships to support student success.

  • educational impact: Recognizing leaders who have implemented effective strategies resulting in improved student outcomes, increased graduation rates, or enhanced educational opportunities.

Runey, who was also selected as one of District Administration’s 2025 “People to Watch,” shared his pride in the entire district staff for their vision, leadership, and dedication to students and the community.

“This national recognition speaks to the consistent, steady leadership Superintendent Runey has provided to the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District,” said Aaron Morse, Chairman of the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School Committee. “The School Committee has seen firsthand how his strategic approach, thoughtful decision-making, and commitment to long-term planning have strengthened our district. Being selected as a Leader of Distinction underscores the impact of his leadership and the positive direction of our schools.”
