Dighton-Rehoboth’s Bill Runey Named One of Education Insider Magazine’s Top Fifteen Superintendents of 2026

The Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District is proud to announce that Superintendent Bill Runey has been named one of Education Insider Magazine’s Top Fifteen School District Superintendents of 2026, a national recognition honoring leaders who are redefining excellence in education.

The feature highlights Runey’s leadership philosophy, shaped by parents who were educators deeply committed to service. Their example instilled in him the belief that leadership is grounded in compassion, connection, and showing up for others. “Leadership is about creating the conditions for others to thrive and making sure they feel seen when they do,” Runey said.

Under Runey’s leadership, Dighton-Rehoboth continues advancing its DRiving Toward 2030 strategic plan, focused on empowering educators, igniting student curiosity, and preparing students for the future. Highlights include strong academic outcomes, expanded Career and Technical Education pathways, and a districtwide #WeAreDR culture rooted in visibility, collaboration, and community engagement.

“This recognition reflects the kind of leader Superintendent Runey is, thoughtful, student-centered, and deeply committed to the success of every learner in our district,” said School Committee Chair Aaron Morse. “On behalf of the School Committee, we are proud of the culture he continues to build in Dighton-Rehoboth, one rooted in collaboration, innovation, and a shared belief in what our students can achieve.”

“This work is never about one person,” Runey said. “It’s about the incredible students, educators, and families who show up every day committed to learning and supporting one another.”

This recognition adds to several national acknowledgments Runey and the district have received, including the National Leaders of Distinction Award from District Administration Magazine and a Best Managed School District for 2025 feature in Business View Magazine.
