We are proud to highlight Dighton-Rehoboth alumna Heather Machie-Mello (Class of 2012), whose dedication to learning, leadership, and perseverance began during her time at DR and continues to guide her professional success today.

After graduating from Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School, Heather attended Curry College, where she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She now works at Blue Cross Blue Shield as a Quality Analyst, where she manages the Provider Quality Incentive Program, helping to improve healthcare quality and provider performance.

While at DR, Heather was actively involved in school life. She was especially passionate about DECA, serving as president during her senior year, and also participated on the freshman basketball team and the varsity cheerleading squad.

Heather credits the teachers and the positive culture at Dighton-Rehoboth with helping to shape her work ethic and drive. She especially remembers:

  • Mr. Pacheco’s Psychology class

  • Mrs. Madsen’s Accounting classes

  • Mrs. Enos’ Trigonometry class

She shares that these teachers challenged her while also supporting her, helping her see that hard work in education leads to motivation and future success.

Heather offers this advice to current students:

"It sounds lame, but take school seriously. Take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way. Good or bad, win or lose, it will teach you so much about yourself and help guide you toward the path you should take. Mistakes are going to happen—your brain isn’t even fully developed until age 25! Embrace them and be kind to yourself. Never forget to give yourself grace. Work hard, stay focused—the world is truly yours."

Heather’s journey reflects the power of involvement, determination, and learning from every experience. We are proud to celebrate her accomplishments and the example she sets for current and future Falcons.

Early College Profile

Students in grade 8 at DMS worked in groups to investigate how the Earth's tilt affects the seasons. In their groups, students explored how the angle of sunlight and length of days change throughout the year as the Earth orbits the Sun. By collaborating and sharing evidence-based explanations, they built a stronger understanding of how Earth’s position and motion in space lead to seasonal patterns.

Kylie has been an exceptional leader and role model throughout her time at DR. She maintains a 3.7 GPA in honors-level courses while actively participating in numerous leadership, athletic, and career-technical opportunities.

Kylie is a dedicated three-year member of DECA and has served as the chapter President for the past two years. During her time in DECA, she has advanced to the State and International levels all three years. As a sophomore, she placed second at Districts and finished in the top five at the State competition, qualifying for the International Career Development Conference in Professional Selling. As a junior, she participated in a promotional campaign that earned her a spot in the DECA Leadership Academy. In her senior year, Kylie again placed second at Districts and contributed to the Innovations and Entrepreneurship campaign, helping her chapter once again qualify for Internationals.

Beyond the classroom, Kylie has served as an Athletics Department Intern for the past two years, assisting with media days, National Signing Day events, and social media outreach. She also participates in Cooperative Education through a local business where she gains hands-on experience in apparel and promotional design. Additionally, Kylie serves as Vice President of the GLAM Girl club, an organization dedicated to supporting young female athletes through community service.

Kylie balances her academic and leadership commitments while also holding a part-time job and competing as a member of both the volleyball and softball teams. After graduation, Kylie plans to attend Salem State University where she will study Business and continue her athletic career as a member of the softball team.

Kylie, along with her family, DR administration, and her Marketing and Entrepreneurship teacher are invited to MAVA's 40th Annual Student Awards Banquet, where outstanding CTE students will be recognized.

Congratulations Kylie! Your DR family is very proud of you!

We’re proud to spotlight Matt Couture, a Dighton-Rehoboth graduate who turned his passion for storytelling into a career in broadcast journalism.
During his time at D-R, Matt was deeply involved in the school community. He contributed to the D-R Falcon Flyer, served in Student Government, and was a member of the National Honor Society. He credits several staff members with shaping his path, including Ms. Janove, Mr. Loell, and Mrs. Rose, who encouraged him to pursue his journalism dreams. Some of his favorite memories include the Red Sox World Series trophy visiting the school, Spirit Week celebrations, covering D-R hockey games for the school paper, and fantasy football leagues with friends.
After graduating in 2015, Matt attended Emerson College, earning a journalism degree in just 3.5 years. His career has since taken him to MLB Network, NBC 10 News, and ABC6 News, while also broadcasting college athletics at Wheaton College and umpiring local baseball.
Today, Matt serves as the Content Center Manager for WJAR NBC 10 and Coastal ABC, where he oversees assignment desk operations, gathers information from newsmakers, manages public records requests, and reviews reporter scripts and stories. In late 2024, he was promoted to Assistant News Director at ABC6 News, a milestone he’s especially proud of.
Matt shares that D-R truly helped Empower, Ignite, and Shape his future. Through journalism classes, TV production, independent study, and AP courses, he gained both real-world experience and college credits that gave him a head start in the industry.
Matt is pictured here sharing his expertise with the current DRRHS Falcon Flyer (@drrhsfalconflyer) Newspaper Club, led by Ms. Stasiuk. Check out the online paper at https://drfalconflyer.com/
His advice for current Falcons:
Take advantage of opportunities to gain real experience. Matt encourages students interested in journalism—and any field—to build skills across multiple platforms and embrace new media. “Strong ethics, writing skills, and the ability to tell stories across print, TV, web, and social media are what employers are looking for today.”
