Today, Superintendent Runey visited Mrs. Duarte’s Grade 4 class to read Where to Hide a Star by Oliver Jeffers, sharing a wonderful story that sparked imagination and curiosity. Earlier this week, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Souza read the hilarious picture book I Don’t Want to Read This Book by Max Greenfield to Ms. Cornell’s Kindergarten class, filling the room with laughter and excitement.

We are so appreciative of our guest readers for taking the time to visit our students and celebrate the joy of reading. Moments like these help empower, ignite, and shape a lifelong love of learning in our schools. 📖💛💚

Today our Grade 1 students had a very special visitor as part of Read Across America Week! We were thrilled to welcome Representative Thurber, who joined us to read "The Book with No Pictures" by B.J. Novak.

Our students were fully engaged, laughing and participating as Rep. Thurber truly brought the book to life with his enthusiasm and expression. The fun didn’t stop there — he enjoyed the story so much that he stayed to read it again during Mrs. Grillo’s Grade 4 library class!

Thank you, Rep. Thurber, for visiting DES, sharing your time with our students, and helping us celebrate the joy of reading. Experiences like this inspire a love of books that lasts a lifetime!

This is your chance to get an inside look at everything kindergarten has to offer. We’ll walk you through our exciting curriculum and give you a glimpse into a typical day in the life of a Dighton Elementary kindergarten student. You’ll meet our amazing teachers, support staff, and administration, explore the building, and get all the details about registration and scheduling your child’s June screening appointment. Kindergarten is just around the corner, and this is the perfect first step. We’re excited to welcome our newest learners and their families — don’t miss it! Can’t make it? Don’t worry!
