Students in Kindergarten and Grade 1 were treated to a special read-aloud today from Dighton Selectmen Glen Cabbage, of Cambridge Savings Bank. As part of their annual “Teach Children to Save” program, students enjoyed the story "Just a Piggy Bank" by Mercer Mayer, which introduced important concepts such as earning, spending, saving, and sharing money in a fun and engaging way.

Each student received their own piggy bank, and a copy of the book was generously donated to the school. We are grateful to Cambridge Savings Bank for providing this meaningful learning experience and helping our youngest learners begin to build strong financial habits early on.

Big news for Dighton-Rehoboth Regional Schools! 🎉

We’re proud to share that we have been awarded $1.5 million to expand Career & Technical Education opportunities for our students.

This investment will launch new Culinary Arts and Criminal Justice programs, providing students with hands-on experience, industry certifications, and real-world pathways to high-demand careers. Through strong partnerships with local colleges, employers, and workforce leaders, we’re igniting a future where every student is empowered with a clear path shaped for success.

School Bus Driver Appreciation Day

Dighton Elementary School students have truly enjoyed the new ACE program offerings this year, which have created additional opportunities for students to connect, explore interests, and build skills beyond the traditional school day. One popular club has been Fitness is Fun with Ms. Corvi, where students engage in healthy, active experiences while having fun with their peers.

This opportunity aligns directly with our strategic plan by supporting the development of the whole child through wellness, engagement, and positive school experiences. Programs like ACE help foster a strong sense of belonging, encourage healthy habits, and provide enriching activities that strengthen students socially, emotionally, and physically. Through offerings like Fitness is Fun, we continue to create an environment where students are excited to learn, grow, and thrive.

We love seeing the connections being built in our school community! 💚💛

SRO Bennett has truly enjoyed being part of our morning announcements, and last week she made a special visit to Mrs. Waddicor’s fourth grade class and students were so excited to have her join them!

You can often find SRO Bennett spending time with students during lunches and recess, building positive relationships and being a familiar, friendly presence throughout the building.

This is a wonderful example of community involvement in our schools and the strong partnership we share with the Dighton Police Department. #WeAreDR #EIS #DT2030

Superintendent Runey visited Mrs. Grillo’s class after hearing about their incredible bracelet initiative, with proceeds supporting a DES student facing hardship. He stopped by to share how impressed he was with their efforts and how their work connects to the district’s Portrait of a Graduate, especially the Collaborator, Communicator, and Future-Ready pillars.

During his visit, he also took the opportunity to teach students about ROI and installment plans, even placing a special order of his own! 💚💛

Thank you, Superintendent Runey, for always making the time to visit and for showing our students what it truly means to be #WeAreDR.

Our DES students are turning creativity into kindness! 💚💛

Mrs. Grillo’s Grade 4 class has been hard at work creating beautiful rainbow loom bracelets as part of their “Crafts for a Cause” project. Students are taking orders from DES and school staff, designing custom bracelets (up to 4 colors!) and learning valuable skills in teamwork, organization, and entrepreneurship along the way.

Even more special, all proceeds will go toward funding a scholarship opportunity for a DES student who would like to participate in the A.C.E. Program but may face financial hardship. ❤️

We are so proud of our students for using their talents to give back and support one another. Thank you to everyone who has already placed an order and supported this meaningful cause!

Students in the DES Drama Club are preparing for their exciting debut performance! Approximately 40 students in grades K–4 have been hard at work learning their lines, designing and creating props, and exploring the fundamentals of stage production as they get ready to present their upcoming show, The Paper Bag Princess.

This enriching opportunity was made possible through a generous Feinstein Grant and the dedication of our outstanding staff advisors—Ms. Farley, Ms. Rubano, and Ms. Nunes—who have guided students every step of the way. We are so proud of our young performers and can’t wait to see them shine on stage!
