Recess Reminder

Attention DR Alumni & Community Members,
If you recall, the Dighton-Rehoboth District started the Strategic Planning process last year by developing the Portrait of a Graduate (POG). I am very pleased to share that the next phase of our Strategic Planning initiative is on schedule for a proposal to be made to School Committee in late May/early June. Both our Strategic Planning Committee and our DLT have christened this process “DRiving Toward 2030.”
I want to salute all who have been collaborative in this process since the Portrait of a Graduate kicked off in the fall of 2022. Now, I am asking everyone else to consider participating. We are adding a few more subcommittee members who are alumni or live in our two towns.
We are now at the stage of assembling subcommittees to build out the five foundational elements of the “DRiving Toward 2030” plan.
Participating is optional; and in my opinion, it’s not a heavy lift. We are probably looking at a maximum of three evening meetings over a 4-month period.
If you are willing to serve on a subcommittee, please take 2-3 minutes prior to January 9 at Noon to complete this Google Form. We will be creating subcommittees for each of the 5 focus areas (see below) and would like to know your top 3 subcommittee preferences.
Please be sure to mark your calendar for Wednesday, January 24 at 6pm for our next in-person DRiving Toward 2030 meeting.
DRiving Toward 2030 Subcommittees
- Funding and Facilities (Resources) - Sustainable fiscal health, facilities, and resources
- Safe & Healthy Learning Environment - Cultures that welcome learning and school environments where each scholar thrives
- Curriculum, Instruction, & Learning Outcomes - High-quality curriculum and instruction that results in future-ready learning outcomes
- Community Engagement - Enhanced school and community connections and family engagement
- Expanded Learning Opportunities - Learning opportunities both in school and community
Thank you!
Together, we are DR!

Superintendent

This morning DES students were welcomed by the DFD and DPD for high five Friday. We also had some special appearances by the grinch, buddy the elf, and our very own elf on the shelf.

DES Reminder

There will be NO chorus rehearsal tomorrow December 20, and our 2nd session will begin on Wednesday January 17. If your child is interested in joining us for our second session and they have not yet brought home a permission slip, no worries, just have them ask Dr. Michaud for one next time they are in music class either before or right after our Winter break.

DMS and DES will have a one hour delay this morning, Tuesday, December 19, 2023. Buses may experience delays. Please see Superintendent Runey’s email from last night regarding attendance.

Due to numerous road closures in our towns, I have concerns about elementary buses running after sundown. Therefore, we will have the following dismissals: High School at 1pm; Middle Schools at 2pm; Elementary Schools at 3pm. Champions will remain open. Families should be aware that delays are inevitable. A decision on after-school activities is forthcoming.
Thank you for your understanding of this decision made in the name of safety.

Superintendent

Please check your ticket! All winning tickets should be brought to your child's classroom teacher. Thank you!
